2nd Annual Mardi Gras Bed Race



The Demp Group, in association with Wal-Mart and the Mississippi Gulf Coast chapter of the Salvation Army, present the
2nd Annual Mississippi Gulf Coast Mardi Gras Bed Race.  This year’s race will
be held on Saturday, February 21st, beginning at 10:00 am, with a pre-race pajama ball the night before from 7:00 until 10:00 pm.  A portion of all of the proceeds will benefit the Salvation Army.

 “This is simply a wonderful opportunity to have some fun with local businesses and, at the same time, benefit a great cause,” says Dempsey Bell, founder of the Demp Group and former Good Works Manager for Wal-Mart.  “We look forward to this year’s race being even more successful than last year’s.”  For the 2009 race, all participants need is a $300.00 entry fee and plenty of imagination.  Participants are encouraged to decorate their beds in any kind of Mardi Gras theme and may include costumes and even music.
“We want people to have fun and be imaginative,” says Bell.  “The more creative the better.”

This year’s race will be held in D'Iberville, MS on the Back Bay.  Racers will compete in as many heats as are necessary and will be eligible for prizes in an array of categories.  Prizes will be given out to teams for best time, most creative bed, ugliest bed and for the people’s choice award.

 2nd Annual Mardi Gras Bed Race
What:     The Demp Group in conjunction with Wal-Mart will be presenting the Second Annual Mardi Gras Bed Race.  This event will be held In D'Iberville, MS on the Back Bay with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the Salvation Army.  Music, food and drinks will be available on the Town Green as well as the bed race itself which will be held in heats with two teams racing at once.  Immediately following the race, will be the awards ceremony recognizing the winning teams in a variety of categories.  The Mardi Gras Bed Race is a family friendly event.  Attendees are encouraged to bring the family and get in on all of the fun.  A Pajama Ball will be held the night prior to the race.  Come and join in the fun and festivities at the 2nd Annual Mardi Gras Bed Race and support a wonderful cause.
