by Staff

Some Hurricane Katrina damage photos.

Taken in Biloxi and Gulfport after Jan 17, 2006.

Most of these are taken along Highway 90 except for the Keesler AFB housing damage.

Gorenflos store was located on the second floor...which you can see in the right picture is GONE.

This is another picture of the Grand Casino barge..which
should be on the other side of the highway in the foreground.

Boat wash up on north side of Hwy 90.

  • To the 2nd coment posting... Shame on you. Judgement from ignorance is a sin. Judgement in itself is a sin! It hurts those instead of help. Casinos & greed.. It was bound to hapen. Get real! No more than the grotesue use of electricity & energy in New York City to light up Times Square caused the attacks of 9-11. This is not God's punishment. It was nature. A clash of hot & cold air masses colliding, swirling & more powerful than anything man-made. Remember... my judgemental friend.... Churches got destroyed, schools, neighbors homes, grocery stores.... Were they just innocent receipiants of Greeds fury? I dont think so. To rebuild a casino is no more or less than any other industry. They are all there to make money. We know it. If they do well, that's the American Sucess story. If it feeds a community thru taxes, charities, & jobs.. God Bless them. Pray for the poor guy who cant control his ures & wont go home to his wife. That guy needs help. Not private enterprises of lights & temptations (chocolate factories do the same thing...). And one last thing... When cammille came.. was that due to casino's too..? I dont htink so. You Go Biloxi! You Go Gulfport! You reuild & grow strong as the generous, loving community I know you to be!!!

  • I recently accepted a travel assignment as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at Gulfcoast Medical Center in your great city. I must say that I have never experienced the hospitality offered as was from your citizens. It is amazing to me that so many people have the positive outlook that the citizens of Biloxi have. There is still a lot to be done, but your efforts have not gone unnoticed. Even with the cleanup yet to be done, your citizens make it a beautiful city! One of the first things I saw on Highway 90 as I was driving in to find my new temporary home was a sign thanking various people for there efforts and support. What a blessing that even in a hard recovery period people still find ways of being thankful! Truly an inspiration to the whole U.S.!

  • This blessing was of a warning. A warning of greed, power , loyalty and praises. I often visit casino's when I am in Biloxi and I wonder what do you do with all that money? Not saying that I am a saint, I will gamble! Yet I pay my dues in thanking him for his blessings. You can rebuild those casino's over and over. Yet one day there won't be a second chance.
