Irish Fling and Grilling on the Green
by Staff
Over 5000 people passed thru the Grilling on the Green. The event was a showcase for local pros and ams to show their skills on the Town Green in Biloxi on the same day as the St Patrick's day parade. Across from the HardRock Casino, some of the best food you could wish for was battling it out with the judges taste buds. It's was 4 Yums up. The parade was green and great, not over crowded with a family atmosphere and a sea of that primary color that marks spring is on it's way. This year the organizers included a childrens play area, which consisted of several huge inflatable jumpers and obstacle courses, the fee, a mere $5 per kid, thus allowing the parents a little time to enjoy the live music, great food and adorable flea markety type booths. The City of Biloxi is constantly putting the town green to good use and will soon rival Ocean Springs for free and fun community events. There were 2 downsides. 1- as always parking, and 2- the only tent allowed to sell drinks ran out of everything but beer. I am not a beer drinker and neither are the 2 8 year olds that accompanied me this year. so next year, open up the drink monopoly and let all tents sell beer. Congrats to the winners of all categories.
